enefits of Sedation Dentistry
Research shows that many adults postpone or neglect dental care because they are fearful about visiting the dentist. Even though your periodontal care plan may be extensive, there is no need to feel anxious about coming in for your treatment. We offer IV sedation at our practice, an invaluable resource for patients that may be experiencing moderate to severe levels of dental anxiety.
Sedation dentistry can make your experience at the office more manageable and help you get the treatment you need and deserve in a timely manner.
How IV Dental Sedation Works
Intravenous Conscious Sedation (IV sedation) involves administering anti-anxiety medication into the bloodstream to induce a deep state of relaxation. The patient remains conscious enough to respond to verbal cues but they will feel very relaxed and will not remember much from the procedure. The drugs have a very calming effect and will wear off several hours after your treatment. You will need someone to drive you home after your visit and will most likely rest or sleep when you get home.
